To Engage Project Personnel
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, in the field of teaching, training and research, wishes to engage one Field Coordinator and five Project Assistants (Indian national only) through a walk-in-interview on Thursday, 20thth, September 2012. These project personnel are required to support WII in the Askote Landscape, Pithoragarh District, Uttarakhand for implementation of the Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Improvement Project.The details of the available positions along with qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:
Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Improvement
Field Coordinator (1)
Rs. 18,000/- consolidated
Essential Qualification
(1) First class Master’s degree in Biological Science or Forestry or Wildlife Science or Natural Resource Management
(2) At least three years’ field research experience in Himalayas.
Desirable Qualification
Knowledge of local language and customs;
Awareness about the Askote Landscape, including flora and fauna.
Description of Work
To coordinate field works related to understanding of scientific and social attributes of Askote Landscape and to build linkages with local communities and government agencies for implementing the project
Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Improvement
Project Assistants (5)
Rs. 12,000/- consolidated
Plant Taxa (1)
Essential Qualification
First class (>60%) Master’s degree in Botany or Forestry or Environmental Science or Life Science from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
(1) Knowledge about flora of Himalayas; ethnobotany.
(2) Knowledge of local language and customs.
Description of Work
To collect and analyze data related to plants and vegetation of Askote Landscape for project implementation.
Insect Taxa (1)
Essential Qualification
First class (>60%) Master’s degree in Zoology or Wildlife Science or Environment Science from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
(1) Knowledge about flora and fauna of Himalayas
(2) Knowledge of local language and customs
Description of Work
To collect and analyze data related to insect groups of Askote Landscape for project implementation.
Pisces/Fish Taxa (1)
Essential Qualification
First class (>60%) Masters degree in Zoology or Wildlife Science or Environmental Science or Life Science from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
(1) Knowledge about Himalayan fish fauna and aquatic biology
(2) Knowledge of local language and customs.
Description of Work
To collect and analyze data related to fishes of Askote Landscape for project implementation.
Birds/ Mammals Taxa (1)
Essential Qualification
First class (>60%) Master’s degree in Zoology or Wildlife Science or Environmental Science or Environmental Management or Forestry or Life Science or Natural Resource Management from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
(1)Knowledge of flora and fauna of Himalayas
(2) knowledge of local language and customs
Description of Work
To collect and analyze data related to fishes of Askote Landscape for project implementation.
Socio- Economic Studies (1)
Essential Qualification
First class (>60%) Master’s degree in Forestry or Wildlife Science or Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or Sociology or Economics or Human Ecology from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
(1) Experience of conducting socio-economic survey for natural management
(2) Knowledge of local language and customs
Description of Work
Conduct socio-economic survey at Askote landscape for project implementation.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
The age of the candidate shall not be more than 35 years for the advertised position of the Field Coordinator and not more than 30 years for Project Assistants as on 31st August, 2012.
Selected candidate for the post of Field Coordinator will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 18,000/- per month and the selected candidate for the post of Project Assistant will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 12,000/- per month.
Selected candidate will be engaged initially for a period of one year. Subsequently, his/her tenure can be extended based on the satisfactory performance of assigned tasks and requirements of the project.
No House rent allowance (HRA) will be paid. However, during their field stay, the project personnel will be provided accommodation at the base camp.
The selection of the candidate will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Thursday, 20th September, 2012 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration will begin by 09:00 A.M. onwards.
Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
No travel expenses will be paid to the candidates.
The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.

The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
