INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH
Applications are invited up to 3 rd June, 2014 for the post of Scientist ‘C’ at the Genetic Research Centre, Mumbai, in the PB- 3, Rs.15600-39100 + Rs. 6600 (GP) and usual allowances as admissible as per Govt. norms.
Essential Qualification & Experience:
(i) MBBS Or M.V.Sc Degree recognized by MCI/VCI respectively with 4 years experience in Genetics or related subjects.
Or
1
st Class Master’s Degree in Genetics or Life Sciences equivalent degree
from a recognized University with 4 years R&D experience in the
relevant subject.
Or
2
nd Class M.Sc in Genetics or Life Science or related subjects + Ph.D
degree in Genetics from recognized University with 4 years research
experience in bio-medical subjects.
Desirable Qualification:
- Post Doctorate in genetic or related science subjects or MD/Ph.D in genetic or the related subject from a recognized University for candidates with first class relevant degree.
- Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in genetic or relevant subjects form recognized Institute(s).
- Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job Requirements:
The
candidate is expected to initiate research programmes in applied
reproductive genetics or human genetic disorders. To plan and execute
research project and to assist the Director and other Scientists in
conducting research in thrust areas of the Institute /Centre.
Age Limit:
Not
exceeding 40 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants and
SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by
the Department of Personnel & Training from time to time in this
regard. However, the prescribed age may be further relaxed in
exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.
General Relaxation Clause:
Age,
qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as
mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists cadre
of ICMR, 2007 under Rule-14 and Notes 1 & 2 of Schedule-III.
Other Service Conditions:
- Pay Band PB-3, Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs. 6600
- Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale.
- Benefits of new restructured defined contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 1.1.2004.
- Private practice is not allowed. However, non-practicing allowance is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules.
- Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Departments/Public Sector Undertakings and Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel. Advance copies of application will be considered subject to the conditions that a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer is produced at the time of personal discussion. Application received after the closing date will not be considered. Candidates called for personal discussion/interview have the option to answer in Hindi also.

- Crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.100/-(Rupees One hundred only) payable to the Director-in-Charge, Genetic Research Centre, Mumbai. SC/ST/Women and Physically Handicapped candidates (PH) are exempted from the application fee. IPOs are payable by all other candidates including ICMR employees.

- Unsigned/Incomplete application or application without supportive evidence asked for/without postal order application received late are liable to be summarily rejected.
Note: (1)
MD or Ph.D degree in subjects relevant to ICMR shall be treated
equivalent to three years experience. (2) Since it is not possible to
call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion,
the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of
the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. (3) If no
suitable candidate is found at Scientist ‘C’ level, the post can be
filled up at one level below i.e. Scientist ‘B’ level. (4) Candidates
called for interview will be paid IInd class rail fare by the shortest
route on production of documents. (5) Any canvassing by or on behalf of
the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with
regard to selection/recruitment shall be grounds for disqualification.
(6) The post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
