Requirement of a Project Consultant for “Development and maintenance of studbooks for selected endangered species in Indian zoos”
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage one project consultant (Indian National only) on contractual basis initially for a period of one year. Applications are invited for the same and only short listed candidates will be called for the interview, likely to be held in August 2013. Duration: Five years.
Essential Qualification
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. Degree in Zoology/Wildlife Science/ Life Science from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification
Research experience in field of animal ecology, behavioural sciences, population management and understanding of management of captive animals and ex-situ conservation.
Project Description
The project aims to develop population management plans for identified species in captivity in Indian zoos and conservation breeding centres using pedigree information.
Tasks Description
  • Collection of data from Indian zoos housing identified species by means of questionnaire survey, personal visits and from CZA website.
  • Update the existing and initiate new national studbooks of identified endangered species in Indian Zoos as required in the project.
  • Organize capacity building workshops for concerned zoo personnel for managing conservation breeding programmes as required in the Project or by the Institute.
  • Assist the Central Zoo Authority and Indian zoos in identification and marking of founder animals.
  • Assist the Central Zoo Authority and Indian zoos in planned breeding and exchange of animals of identified species.
  • Provide technical inputs and assistance on various identified aspects of the project.
  • Provide technical guidance to research personnel working in the CZA project.
  • Assist in ongoing projects/activities of the CBZM Cell and institute’s projects
  • Carry out duties as assigned by the Institute.
GENERAL
1. The tenure of the selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be initially for a period of one year, which can be extended further on the basis of requirement of the project.
2. Candidate for the advertised position of Project Consultant should not be more than 50 years of age. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, physically handicapped applicants.
3. Selected candidate (Project Consultant) will be paid a consolidated sum of ` 40,000.00 (all inclusive) and taxes as applicable will be deducted at source.
4. The selection of the candidate will be based on interview likely to be held in August 2013 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. All original documents should be produced at the time of interview.
5. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

VECTOR CONTROL RESEARCH CENTRE

Applications are invited up to 19.08.2013 for the post of Scientist D in the PB-3 Rs.15, 600-39,100 + Grade Pay of Rs.7600 at the ICMR’s Vector Control Research Centre, Puducherry:-
Essential Qualifications:
(i) First class Master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics/Mathematical Statistics/ Health Statistics from a recognized university OR Second class Master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics/Mathematical Statistics/Health Statistics with Ph. D. degree in Statistics/Biostatistics from a recognized University
(ii) Eight years relevant R&D experience in advanced Statistical analysis/ mathematical modeling in recognized health research/ biomedical/ medical/ other relevant Institutes after obtaining essential qualification (i) above, out of which at least 2 years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualifications:
(i) Ph.D Degree in Statistics/Biostatistics/equivalent for candidates with first class
Master’s degree in the above subject.
(iii) Additional research experience in relevant fields in recognized Institute(s).
(iv) Experience in the development and application of Statistical/Mathematical modeling in the transmission and control of vector borne diseases and use of advanced statistical softwares.
Job Requirements:
(i) To apply statistical techniques for the design, conduct and data analysis of epidemiological/entomological and operational research studies related to vector borne diseases and assist in report writing.
(ii) To design and implement research studies related to statistical/Mathematical modeling of the transmission and control of vector borne diseases.
(iii) To teach and impart training to post-graduate students in the relevant subject.
(iv) To assist Director in the administrative matters relating to research, training and general activities of Centre.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 45 years. Relaxable upto 5 years for Government Servants and SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Training from time to time in this regard. However, the prescribed age may be further relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.
One time age relaxation is also allowed to Scientific and Technical staff working in long term projects in ICMR Institutes/Centres for posts advertised under HRSC, 2007 provided they meet essential qualifications and experience for the post with a view to provide them opportunity to compete with other candidates as per Council’s letter No.6/1/2007-Admn.II dated 28.03.2011.
General Relaxation Clause: Age, qualification and experience will be relaxable in deserving cases as mentioned in the Recruitment Rules of Health Research Scientists cadre of ICMR, 2007 under Rule 14 and Notes 1 & 2 of Schedule-III.

Job. Requirements : The incumbent is required to plan and execute research studies in the field of Molecular Virology/Biology, Microbiology and Immunology. In addition to its other activities, the Institute is engaged in basic biology research to understand the immunopathogenesis of HIV infection, molecular basis of HIV Drug Resistance, molecular basis of HIV prevention strategy and Molecular diagnosis for HIV. The incumbent is expected to join a multidisciplinary team of researcher at the Institute, working on projects aimed at control of HIV infection. The incumbent is also expected to take part in supervision of routine activities for molecular diagnosis in connection with other projects. He/she is expected to write project proposals for both intramural and extramural funding. He/she is also expected to participate in training programmes conducted by the Institute as a capacity building exercise. A bright scientist with a proven record of generating and executing research projects, ability to work as a part of the team and innovative thinking will be suitable for this position.

2.  Four years R&D or teaching experience in Internal Medicine/ Surgery/ PSM/ Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Chest & TB/Skin &VD after obtaining essential qualification (i) above.
Desirable Qualifications:
1.  Doctorate degree M.D in Internal Medicine/Obstetrics & Gynecology/Chest &
TB/Skin & VD from a recognized university.
2. Additional research/teaching experience in recognized Institute (s).
3. Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job Requirements: In addition to its other activities NARI is also conducting clinical research with an objective of optimizing Anti-Retroviral Therapy and HIV prevention strategy. The incumbent will be expected to join a multidisciplinary team of researchers conducting controlled clinical trials towards achieving these goals. The work would involve development of new scientific proposals, implementation of clinical trial protocols, patient care and ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements. NARI (ICMR) is looking for a scientist with enthusiasm for research and commitment for betterment of human health through research and patient care.
Age: Not exceeding 45 years for the post of Scientist-D and 40 years for the post of Scientist-C. CSMCRI is a premier national laboratory under CSIR, New Delhi. The Institute undertakes a wide range of basic and applied R&D projects spanning the areas of chemistry, biology and engineering. Applications are invited in the prescribed form from talented and result-oriented Indian Nationals for 8 posts in the areas of Bio-inorganic chemistry, Membrane Applications, Environmental Science, Science Dissemination in Hindi, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Algal cultivation and Agricultural Science, respectively, as per the following details.
The emoluments and age limit for various posts as per norms is summarized below:
Post 7 – Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Algal cultivation (OBC)
Job Requirement: To undertake research projects which seek to advance techniques of cultivation of marine macro- and micro-algae to improve productivity, scalability and environmental acceptability.
Essential Educational Qualification and Experience: For the post of Scientist: Ph. D (Submitted) in algal research; for the post of Senior Scientist: Ph D in algal research with 2 years additional experience relevant to the job.
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. Relaxation as per rules shall apply to candidates from reserved categories/departmental candidates. Candidates will be placed in Pay Band 3 with Grade Pay of Rs 7600/- or Rs 6600/- depending upon the performance of the candidate subject to meeting the minimum criterion specified.
2. Scientists in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and Rs. 7600/- are given two additional increments after their normal pay fixation. The emoluments indicated in (3) above are inclusive of the increments. It may be noted that these increments are not treated as a part of pay for any purpose.
3. Scientists in PB-3 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/- and Rs.7600/- are eligible for Professional Update Allowance @ Rs.10, 000/- per annum.
4. The posts carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees as made applicable to CSIR employees of the same pay and status stationed at this Institute.
5. The service is pensionable based on defined contribution under the “New Pension Scheme” as made applicable to Council employees w.e.f. 1.1.2004. However, persons selected from other Government Departments / Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector Undertakings / Central Universities having Pension Scheme on GOI pattern will continue to be governed by the existing Pension Scheme i.e. CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972.
6. Scientists are entitled for Career Advancement on the basis of Flexible Complementary Scheme of CSIR.
7. The Director, CSMCRI, Bhavnagar reserves the right not to fill up any or all the posts, if he so decides.
8. Relaxation in age limit will be allowed to SC/ST/OBC/PH and other notified categories as per the Govt. of India orders applicable from time to time. However, age relaxation to SC/ST/OBC candidates is applicable only in cases where the Posts are reserved for them.
9. The cut-off date for determining the age, qualification & experience of a candidate will be the last date for receipt of applications.
10. Relaxation in age limit up to five years may be allowed to the Council / Government / Autonomous Bodies / Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time.

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad is a premier autonomous R & D Institute under the Societies Act funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, that has been established to provide services and to undertake R & D in DNA Fingerprinting, DNA Diagnostics and other areas of modern biology.
CDFD wishes to fill up under mentioned vacancies on purely contractual basis whose tenure is likely to be extended at six-monthly intervals.
As per the policy of CDFD for positions on contract, consolidated monthly emoluments are calculated @ 145% of the equivalent salary in Central Govt. post comprising of Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance (DA) + Transport Allowance (TA) (45% loading is being given in lieu of HRA, Medical, LTC, terminal benefits etc. on total Basic Pay + DA + TA up to 30.06.2012 @ 65% of DA). Research Scientist-C / RA / JRF Positions at the Centre on a DST funded project
Applications are invited for one Post of Research Scientist-C, one post of Research Associate II (Technical Support Staff) (RA) and four Junior Research Fellows (JRF) under research project proposal entitled "Computational Studies on Novel Materials and Nanoscale Transport”, funded wholly by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India through its Nano Mission Council, sanctioned to Professor Anjali Kshirsagar (PI). We seek applications for the following temporary positions:
Research Scientist-C 1 (Open category)
The Centre is looking for persons with outstanding academic and research records (judged by steady publications in international peer reviewed journals) with expertise in (i) First principles electronic structure calculations or (ii) Numerical quantum techniques and/or (ii) Large scale realistic simulations of classical systems. Candidate with proven experience as a developer of numerically intensive, large codes or with experience of applications of various software packages for diverse systems/properties will be preferred.
Eligibility: These positions are open to candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in Computational Physics/ Chemistry/Biology or any related field, relevant post-doctoral/industrial R&D experience of minimum 1 year and with a strong continuous academic record. Candidates should have experience of working on Linux platforms. The candidate should be within 35 years of age. He/She will be involved in research in computational materials science at nano scale. We encourage candidates intending to work on challenging computational problems to apply, as they will have access to multi-teraflop parallel computers.
Research Associate II (Technical Support Staff) 1 (reserved for SC)
The Centre is looking for technical support staff to administer the high performance computing facility to be established at the Centre under the project, to interface with system integrators/service providers whenever necessary. Responsibilities include the management and maintenance of sophisticated high performance computing (HPC) platforms (computer clusters), developing scripts for task automation, maintenance of Linux based PCs and maintenance of web pages for the project. The work will include coordination and maintenance of other technical infrastructure (such as air conditioners and UPS).
Eligibility: Candidates with a Ph.D. Degree in Physics/Chemistry/Materials or M.Tech./M.E. with at least two years’ experience of working on Linux administration may apply. Familiarity with numerically intensive scientifically oriented computing platforms is desirable. He/She will also assist scientific users in the optimal use of computing resources, through installation and optimized compilation of scientific softwares, educating the users on the usage of shared resources effectively with job manager. Experience in this position will be unique in terms of exposure to system management of a large scale HPC facility.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 4 (2-Open one reserved for SC, one reserved for ST)
Centre is looking for motivated and dedicated persons with consistent good academic record. Fellows are expected to work for their doctoral degree on the problems specified in the project.
Eligibility: Candidate should possess post-graduate degree in Physics/Chemistry or related subject or B.E./B.Tech. in Materials/Chemical/Metallurgy . Familiarity with Linux based computers in a multi-user environment will be advantageous. M.Sc. Degree holders should be NET qualified and B.E./B.tech. degree holders should be GATE (or equivalent) qualified
Duration of Appointment The Appointment for all positions will be for a contract period of upto 4 years or upto the present completion day of the project, which ever is earlier.

As per the policy of CDFD for positions on contract, consolidated monthly emoluments are calculated @ 145% of the equivalent salary in Central Govt. post comprising of Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance (DA) + Transport Allowance (TA) (45% loading is being given in lieu of HRA, Medical, LTC, terminal benefits etc. on total Basic Pay + DA + TA up to 30.06.2012 @ 65% of DA). From 01.07.2012 enhancement of DA is being calculated on Pay and Grade pay component only. For each of the vacancies below, the equivalent Central Govt. Scale / Pay Band has been indicated in parentheses.
Consolidated emoluments mentioned against vacancies below have been calculated
at the present rate of Dearness Allowance of 72%.
1. TECHNICAL OFFICER – II
(Equivalent to Post in the Pay Band – 2, ` 9300-34800 Plus Grade Pay ` 4600/-)

Educational Qualifications and Experience:
Essential Qualifications: First Class B Sc or equivalent with 8 years relevant experience OR M Sc or equivalent with 4 years relevant experience / B Tech or equivalent with 4 years relevant experience
Desirable: Hands-on experience in Molecular biology techniques including nucleic acids manipulations, sequencing, genotyping, application of statistical  tools for genotypic and population analysis and handling of bones, extracted body parts, crime scene samples, preserved specimens for nucleic acid manipulations and genotyping.
Job Requirements: Processing of blood samples, body parts, skeletal remains, preserved specimens, admixture samples, vaginal smears, saliva samples, semen stains and other biological evidence provided by the law enforcing agencies/ collected from crime scene for nucleic acid isolation, manipulation, genotyping and analysis of the data, establishing DNA-based population database for different Indian populations, writing of DNA examination report, deposition of evidence in the Courts of law and interaction with law enforcing personnel. The job in the public interest is transferrable anywhere in India.
