EXAMINERS OF PATENT & DESIGNS

DIPP COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION, 2010 FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF EXAMINERS OF PATENT & DESIGNS FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CONTROLLER GENERAL OF PATENTS, DESIGNS & TRADE MARKS (MUMBAI)

(1) Applications are invited in the prescribed ICR Application Form (Offline)/through Online application for the recruitment of 257 posts of Examiner of Patents and Designs for the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (Ministry of Commerce & Industry). in the Pay Band
PB – 3 (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100) + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 (Group “A” Gazetted)

(2) Broad Job Requirements/Duties: To examine patent applications as per provisions of the Patents Act, to assist the Controller during further processing of patent applications and other assignments relating to patents, entrusted to them from time to time.

(3) Number of Posts: 257 posts (Approximately). These posts are temporary but likely to continue. Number of posts may decrease or increase depending upon the actual number of vacancies at the time of final selection.

(4) The DISCIPLINE- WISE DISTRIBUTION OF 257 POSTS

Biochemistry – 24 Posts
Biotech – 6 Posts

ELIGIBILITY CRITRION:

(a) Essential Qualification:

(i) Minimum Educational Qualification:

Masters Degree in Physics/Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry/Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Bio-Technology/Bio-Physics, OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology of a recognised University or equivalent. However, the examination will be conducted in the disciplines as mentioned in paragraph 4 above.

(b) Desirable Qualification: During finalization of the result, the candidates possessing following desirable qualification will be given due weightage by the DIPP as per the scheme as mentioned below:

(i) Research experience.
(ii) Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent
(iii) Certificate/Diploma from a recognized University/Institute in a foreign language like German, French, Russian, Spanish etc.

Weightage for desirable qualifications

The weightage for desirable qualification as mentioned above will be given to the candidates as per the scheme given below. This credit will be added by the department at the final stage of merit preparation

The final selection will be based upon the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination and weightage awarded for having desirable qualification.

SYLLABUS OF THE EXAMINATION
The dicipline wise Vacancies and syllabus of the examination may be seen in the Information Bulletin. It may also be seen at websites: www.dipp.nic.in or www.ipindia.nic.in. The syllabus for both Preliminary and Main examinations are the same. However, the Preliminary examination will include questions related to General Knowledge, General Science including questions on quantitative aptitude besides scientific OR engineering questions.

EXAMINATION CENTRES

The both, preliminary & main exam will be held on the same day on Sunday, the 2nd January, 2011 at 17 Centres spread all over India, as specified below:

Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Jorhat, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram

HOW TO OBTAIN THE APPLICATION FORM AND EXAMINATION FEE PAYABLE

BY HAND: Candidates applying for the Test may obtain the Information Bulletin and Application forms (inclusive of fee payable) through the notified branches of the Indian Bank from 21/09/2010 (For Remote Areas) And From 28/09/2010 (For Others) up to 19/10/2010, By paying the following fee in cash:

CATEGORY

(I) General/OBC Candidate: Rs. 100/- + Rs.. 20/- (towards Bank & postage charges)

(II) SC/ST/PC (OH)/Women Candidate: NIL + Rs. 20/- (towards Bank & postage Service)

Examination fee paid for this examination will neither be adjusted for any subsequent examination nor refunded under any circumstances.

WHERE TO SEND THE COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM

The application form, duly completed with requisite enclosures & fixing requisite postage stamp on the mailing envelop should be sent to the Sr. Controller of Examinations, Examination Unit, Human Resource Development Group, CSIR Complex, (Opposite Institute of Hotel Management), Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi 110012 only by registered post/speed post so as to reach this Unit on or before 5 p.m. on 25/10/2010. After this date & time, no speed/registered post application shall be accepted by the
above said addressee.

Candidates should follow the instruction for filling the O.M.R. Application. The duly completed application form must be sent under Registered Post/Speed Post Only. And apply early enough to ensure timely receipt of their applications by the Examination Unit on or before the closing date i.e. by 5.00 PM on 25/10/2010. The Registered Post/Speed Post dispatch slip may be treated as acknowledgement.
