An international consortium has been formed to carry out research on genetic and cellular changes in cancer. India is a member of this consortium. The following positions are available in the Indian component of the International Cancer Genome Consortium project. These positions provide a unique opportunity to participate in the large international initiative on cutting-edge genomics and exciting prospects of development and expansion of skills and knowledge in this field. Remuneration will be consolidated without any additional allowances or benefits. The appointments are contractual (initially for a period of one year which will extended annually based on individual performance and achievements up to a maximum of five years).
Technical Assistant (One):
The Technical Assistant (TA) will be responsible for the routine and preventive maintenance of the laboratory facilities and consumables stocks, running of daily laboratory activities, such as, autoclaving labware and providing assistance to other technical staff, preparation of bulk reagents, etc.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent in any scientific discipline
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in genomics laboratory work.
Consolidated Pay Range: Rs. 10000-15000 per month
Technical Specialist (Four):
The Technical Specialists (TS) will be engaged in hands on second generation flow cell sequencing and genome wide scan laboratory work and instrument operations as well as other laboratory activities.
Essential Qualifications:
MSc or equivalent in genetics/life sciences/biochemistry/related discipline or BSc in any scientific discipline with at least three years' experience in genomics laboratory work, including the handling of capillary DNA sequencers and annotation/analyses of DNA sequence and genotype data.Desirable Qualifications:Basic experience in DNA & RNA laboratory work, including PCR.Consolidated Pay Range: Rs. 18000-25000 per month
Senior Technical Specialist (Two):
The Senior Technical Specialists (STS) will be engaged in team management and hands- on second generation flow cell sequencing and genome wide scan laboratory work and instrument operations as well as other laboratory activities. They will be responsible to ensure overall functioning of the wet laboratories.
Essential Qualifications:
PhD in genetics/life sciences/biochemistry/related discipline, with a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in DNA/RNA work, PCR, DNA sequencing, genotyping.Desirable Qualifications:Experience in large projects on sequencing and genotyping.Consolidated Pay Range: Rs. 20000-30000 per month
Data Analyst (Two):
The Data Analysts (DA) will be engaged in QA/QC and analysis of raw sequence and genotyping data generated by the second generation flow cell sequencing and genome wide scan platforms, assembly, mutation detection and generation of other meta data.
Essential Qualifications:
MSc or equivalent in bioinformatics/related discipline
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of popular programming languages, handling of software packages and databases, experience in handling DNA sequence/genotypie date
Consolidated Pay Range: Rs. 18000-25000 per month
Senior Data Analyst (One):
The Senior Data Analysts (DA) will be engaged in team management and QA/QC and analysis of raw sequence and genotyping data generated by the second generation flow cell sequencing and genome wide scan platforms, assembly, mutation detection and generation of other meta data.
Essential Qualifications:
MSc or equivalent in bioinformatics/related discipline, with two years of demonstrated experience in analyzing sequence/genotype data, knowledge of relevant software and databases.
Desirable Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of second generation flow-cell sequencing/high throughput genotyping, experience in computer programming, experience in large projects on sequencing and genotyping.
Consolidated Pay Range: Rs. 20000-30000 per month
Project Manager
The Project Managers (PM) will be responsible for the management of entire activities and the personnel of the project. One Project Manager (Administrative) will be responsible for the management of administrative and financial aspects of the project, including arranging for timely shipment and tracking of samples from multiple centres, ordering of reagents and supplies, co-ordinating financial and administrative activities with the Department of Biotechnology (for which being stationed in New Delhi may be required for extended periods of time), preparation, collation and submission of reports, etc. The second Project Manager (Scientific), will be responsible for management of all scientific activities of the project, including assurance of sample integrity, laboratory integrity, data generation in wet and computing laboratories, and data management.
Essential Qualifications:
Project Manager (Scientific) PhD in life sciences or a related discipline with demonstrated track record and experience in high throughput sequencing and genotyping, and scientific management of large projects.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in operations and management of large multi-centric projects.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 70000/- per month
