The Wildlife Institute of India is an internationally acclaimed Institution, which offers
training program for government and non-government personnel, academic courses and
advisory in wildlife research and management. The Institute is actively engaged in research
across the breadth of the country on biodiversity related issues.
The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites online application from INDIAN NATIONALS
for engaging one (01) Project Scientist – II (Ecology), one (01) Project Scientist – I (Ecology),
one (01) Senior Project Associate (RS/ GIS), two (02) Senior Project Associate (Ecology),
one (01) Project Associate – II (Ecology), one (01) Project Associate – II (RS/ GIS), and two
(02) Project Associate – I (Ecology), for various projects on purely contractual basis.
The period of the contractual engagement will initially be for a limited period (1 year/ 7
months), which is most likely to be extended based on the candidate’s performance and

able to undertake arduous field
work under rigorous conditions.
The work involves field
monitoring of tiger,
co-predators and their prey
with techniques such as
camera-trapping, distance
sampling and radiotelemetry in
TATR, Pench TR, NNTR, Melghat
TR, Bor TR, Umred WLS and
Tippeshwar WLS. The objectives
of this study include
demographic trends of
carnivores and prey species,
dispersal, and movement
ecology of tigers.
Ratel is one of the most elusive
species. The ecology of the ratel
in unknown in India and this
project will be the first
scientific study to understand
their space use, movement,
activity, and diet in
Melghat TR.
This project will also study the
movement ecology of Asiatic wild dogs in NNTR and
interaction of dholes and tigers
with respect to their niche
partitioning (food, space and
time)
