Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram ( IISER TVM) invites applications from eligible Indian Nationals including Persons of Indian Origins (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) with outstanding academic achievements, ability to establish a vibrant research programme, and with a passion for teaching for various faculty positions of the Institute under the four tier flexible faculty structure promulgated by MHRD, Govt. of India.

Areas of required specialization for Assistant Professor Positions

School of BiologyAll areas of Biology. However preference will be given to the applicants with outstanding record of research achievements who would strengthen the existing research areas of the School of Biology
School of ChemistryAll areas of Chemistry however, preference will be given to the applicants in the following areas: Chemical Biology (Chemical Neuro Science, Small Molecules-Stem Cell Interactions, Chemical Epigenetics and Optogenetics), Solid state chemistry, Theoretical Chemistry (Molecular Dynamics Simulations, Many Body Systems, Computational Biophysics), Ultrafast Spectroscopy, Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry (Physical) hooked up with materials.
School of MathematicsAll areas of Mathematics, Statistics and Theoretical Computer Science. However preference will be given to the applicants with outstanding record of research achievements who would strengthen the existing research areas of the School of Mathematics.
School of PhysicsApplicants working in the following areas: Atomic and Molecular Physics, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics especially in the area of Neutron Techniques, μSR etc., High Energy Physics, Low Dimensional Systems will be preferred.

Reservations for those belong to SC/ST/OBC-NCL category will be as per Govt. of India norms. Candidates belong to reserved category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/ PWD) should submit the valid certificate issued by the appropriate authorities as applicable for jobs under Government of India. In the absence of such certificate the candidate will be treated as General Category.
The candidates are required to submit the Caste/ Category/ Disabilities Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the format prescribed by the Government of India for this purpose.
The OBC-NCL certificate should be issued during the current Financial Year (2018-19).
PWD Candidates, who suffer from not less than 40% of relevant disability, should possess disability certificate issued by Medical Board duly constituted by Central or State Government issued on or before last date of submission of application.

All applications will be acknowledged by automated email. If an acknowledgment is not received in one week, an email may be sent to the facultyrecruitment@iisertvm.ac.in. Further communication will be sent only to those candidates who are shortlisted for the selection process.

The prescribed qualifications and experience are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for further selection process.

A committee will shortlist the candidates to be called for further selection process from among the applicants based on the advertised criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be required to give a seminar/presentation prior to the interview. No interim enquiries /correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained in the matter.

Candidates giving seminar / appearing for interview will be paid with traveling expenses, from home station / place of duty / port of disembarkation within India, as per the Institute norms.

The faculty appointed in regular faculty cadre will be on probation for a period of one year from date of joining. Confirmation in service after the period of probation will be subject to the assessment of performance as per prescribed criteria.
The appointment as Assistant Professor Grade II will be of contractual nature for a period of three years from date of appointment. The performance of those, who appointed as Assistant Professor Grade II in academic level 10, will be assessed after a period of every one year from the date of appointment, for consideration of the continuation of contract.

In addition to the pay and allowances, benefits like leave, Leave Travel Concession, Medical Reimbursement etc will be available as admissible to Central Government employees and the other service conditions will be as contained under the NITSER Act / IISER Statutes, as amended from time to time will be applicable to the faculty appointed in regular faculty cadre.
Those who appointed as Assistant Professor Grade II will not be entitled for benefits as applicable for faculty appointed on regular cadre like Leave Travel Concession, Medical Reimbursement Facilities and NPS. However their leave entitlement will be as same as applicable to regular faculty members.
9Person appointed on regular faculty cadre will be covered under the New Pension Scheme as notified by the Government of India.
10Other Incentives:
  1. Reimbursement of travel and relocation expenses not exceeding Rs. 1.25 Lakhs for New Faculty joining from abroad and Rs. 75,000 for those joining from places within India (applicable for regular faculty cadres only).
  2. A start up research grant based on the projections made by the New Facultyfor carrying out research programmes.
  3. A Cumulative Professional Development Allowance of Rs. 3 Lakhs (under revision) for every block of three years (Rs. 1 Lakh per year) on reimbursable basis to meet the expenses for participating in both national and international conferences, paying the membership fee for various professional bodies and contingent expenses (applicable for regular faculty cadres only)

Candidates already working under the Central Govt./State Govt./Public Sector Undertakings/ Central Autonomous Bodies should submit their applications through proper channel. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application. Thosewho are unable to forward their application through proper channel have to produce the No Objection Certificatefrom the current employer at the time of interview

Date for determining the eligibility of all candidates in every respect shall be the prescribed closing date for submission on online recruitment application.

Where number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large, the Institute reserves to restrict the number of candidates to be called for selection process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience. The decision of the Institute in this regard shall be final.

The application has to be submitted through online mode only as per instructions given in the website. Incomplete applications and applications not supported by relevant documents as claimed in the application will be summarily rejected

The Institute reserves the right to regularize / modify the pay scales or other service conditions, if found necessary later on, due to any change in the policy as decided by the BoG of the Institute or the Government of India.

The decision of the Institute in all the matters shall be final and legal disputes, if any ,shall be settled under the Court of Law within its jurisdiction at Thiruvananthapuram

This rolling advertisement is subjected to availability or anticipation of vacancy of the Institute for various faculty positions and initially, the applications received up to 30.09.2018 will be considered in the first lot of selection process and subsequently once in six months. Those who have applied w.r.t our earlier advertisements have to apply afresh.
