Applications are invited up to 10th Sept., 2015 for the 7 posts of Scientist ‘E’ in the pay Band-4 of Rs.37400-67000 + Rs.8700 (Grade pay) at the ICMR’s following Institutes/Centres:-
(I) Vector Control Research Centre (VCRC), Pondicherry
Scientist-E (Medical) – (one post)
Qualification & Experience:
Essential:-
(i) MBBS degree recognized by MCI or equivalent degree from a
recognized university with ten years R&D/teaching experience in
epidemiology/Public Health, Microbiology and Preventive and Social
Medicine or Clinical Medicine. (ii) Out of which 3 years experience in
managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a
directing capacity.
Desirable:
(i) MD in Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine/General
Medicine/Microbiology from a recognized University OR Masters in Public
Health or epidemiology with first class relevant degree. (ii) Additional
Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant fields
especially Vector Borne Diseases/Public Health/Infectious diseases as
evidenced by Publications in PEER reviewed journals. (iii) Knowledge of
Computer Applications.
Job Requirements:
The incumbent is expected to lead the Research project team and should
have the capability to formulate, execute and interpret Scientific
Research works on Vector borne diseases. The candidate should be willing
for both field and clinic-based works. The incumbent is also expected
to have a good knowledge on the application of epidemiological tools in
diagnosis, control of vector borne/communicable diseases and software
like Epi-info, SPSS, etc. The incumbent should be willing to get
involved in the training of Post-Graduate students in the field of
Public Health, vector borne diseases and evaluation of Public Health
Programmes and epidemic investigations in collaboration with the
respective State Health Department.
(II) National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), New Delhi:-
Scientist-E (Medical) – (one post)
Qualification & Experience:
Essential
:- (i) MBBS Degree recognized by MCI or equivalent degree from a
recognized or equivalent degree from a recognized University with 10
years R&D/ Teaching experience in the required subject after MBBS
degree. (ii) Out of which 3 years experience in managerial position to
handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualifications:
i) Master degree in Epidemiology/Public Health Or MD in Preventive
& Social Medicine/ Community Medicine/ Pharmacology/ Microbiology/
Medicine / Pediatrics from a recognized university for candidates with
first class relevant degree. ii) Additional Post doctoral
research/teaching experience in Epidemiology, Public Health or in
Community Medicine/ Preventive & Social Medicine and training in
Vector borne diseases and experience in relevant subjects in recognized
Institute(s). iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job Requirements:
The incumbent would be required to (i) carry out field investigations
of malaria epidemics in different parts of the country. (ii) Study
epidemiological profile & distribution of malaria. (iii) Help in
malarigenic stratification and modeling. (iv) Research on
chemotherapeutic and parasitological aspects of malaria.(v) He will be
involved in development evaluation system of malaria control strategies
with different methods of malaria control. (vi) Participate in teaching
programmes and (vii) any other duties assigned by the Director.
(III) Desert Medicine Research Centre, (DMRC), Jodhpur
Scientist –E (Medical) – (one post)
Qualification & Experience: Essential
:- (i) Post graduate degree (MD in Medicine/Community Medicine/ PSM/
Pediatrics/ Obstetrics & Gyneacology) with seven years
R&D/teaching experience in the required subject areas from a
recognized university. (ii) Out of which 3 years experience in
managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a
directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification:
(i) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching experience in relevant
subjects in recognized institute(s) (ii) Knowledge of Computer
Applications or Business Intelligence tools/ Data Management.
Job Requirements:
Planning, designing and conducting operational and clinical research.
The job would require extensive travel in Rajasthan and outside
Rajasthan as per requirements.
(IV) National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), Chennai
Scientist – E (Socio Behavioural Sciences)- (one post)
Qualification
& Experience: Essential :- (i) First Class Master’s degree in the
sociology, psychology and anthropology from a recognized university with
10 years R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after 1st
Class Master’s Degree. (ii) out of which 3 years in a managerial
position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing
capacity. Or Second class M.Sc + Ph.D degree in the relevant subject
from a recognized University with 10 years R&D/teaching experience
in the relevant subject after M.Sc.+ Ph.D. (ii) out of which 3 years in a
managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in
a directing capacity.
Desirable
qualifications: (i) Doctorate Degree in relevant science from a
recognized university (ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching
experience in the above mentioned subjects in recognized institute(s)
(iii) Knowledge of Computer Applications

Requirement: The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis
(Formerly Tuberculosis Research Centre (TRC) is a permanent institute
under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is an
internationally recognized institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research.
It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating
Centre for TB Research and Training. Recently, an International Centre
for Excellence in Research (ICER) in collaboration with NIH was
established at the Centre. The Department of Social and Behavioural
Research is an integral part of the NIRT. Their roles are diverse from
being supportive in all the clinical trials conducted in the centre as
well as focusing on crucial social behavioural studies in TB and HIV.
They also play a crucial role in counseling of TB patients and families,
psychosocial support individual and group sessions and have been
successful in rehabilitating TB and HIV patients and their families. The
scientist should have strong observation and communication skills, with
necessary experience as evidenced by relevant publication. The
scientist is expected to participate in planning, implementation and
reporting of research in Socio behavioural science and related fields
and will be responsible for undertaking related studies in any part of
India and any other responsibilities assigned by the Director.
(V) National Institute of Cholera & Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata
(a) Scientist-E (Pathophysiology) (Non-Medical)– One post
The
research work of the Division of Pathophysiology of NICED is related to
the understanding of pathogenesis of different diarrhoeagenic bacteria,
development of candidate vaccine, Super ORS and use of proper
antibiotics against diarrhea. The pathophysiology work carried out in
the institute currently includes studying the intracellular signal
transduction pathway involved in the induction of intestinal secretion
by E.coli heat-stable toxin(STa), the involvement of CaSR in the
intracellular signaling mechanism of virulence factors secreted by
different enteric bacteria, rat perfusion model hemagglutinin Proteases
and its importance as a virulence factor of these strains. Apart from
this, the scientists of the division are also involved in teaching and
other academic activities of different Universities and professional
societies in India. A large number of students are trained in this
laboratory for their Ph.D/M.Sc./M.Tech. program. Several collaborative
projects are also going on with many National and International
Scientists of different Organizations and Institutes.
Essential Qualification Experience:
(i) First Class Master’s degree in Physiology/Biochemistry/Zoology/
Microbiology and other related subjects in Life Science from a
recognized University with 10 years R&D/teaching experience in the
relevant subject after Ist Class Master’s Degree. (ii) Out of which 3
years in a managerial position to handle R&D projects in a team
effectively in a directing capacity. Or Second Class M.Sc.+ Ph.D degree
in Physiology/Biochemistry/Zoology/ Microbiology and other related
subjects in Life Science from a recognized University with 10 years
R&D/teaching experience in the relevant subject after M.Sc+Ph.D.
(ii) Out of which 3 years in a managerial position to handle R&D
projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification:
i) Doctorate degree in the above mentioned subject from a recognized
University for candidates with First class relevant degree. ii)
Additional Post Doctoral research/teaching experience from recognized
institute(s) in human intestinal physiology, pathophysiology during
enteric infection, therapies for intestinal disorders in humans,
proficiency in cutting-edge biology techniques. iii) Experience in
conducting independent research in the above mentioned field reflected
through publications in peer reviewed journals as corresponding author.
Job Requirements: i) To plan and perform independent research in
pathophysiology of gut infection processes for therapeutic purposes. ii)
To engage in collaborative research at different levels. iii) To assist
in building institutional infrastructure, project development and
resource generation. iv) To prepare reports, updates and other documents
relevant to area of work.
(b) Scientist-E(Epidemiology) (Medical) – One post
Epidemiology
division of NICED, has been involved in research projects on
epidemiology of diarrhea-observational, intervention and operational
research projects like micronutrient supplementation and albendazole
administration to children and its impact on growth and diarrhoeal
incidence. NICED in collaboration with International Vaccine Institute,
Seoul, Korea has carried out research to generate accurate
epidemiologic, socio-behavioral, and economics data on typhoid fever and
cholera in impoverished slum area populations of eastern Kolkata in
preparation for field trials of vaccines against these two diseases.
NICED has undertaken a large community based randomized
placebo-controlled blinded trial to study the efficacy of probiotic in
preventing diarrhoeal diseases among the children 1-5 years of age, in
collaboration with Yakult Honsha, Japan. A multicentric diarrhoeal
diseases burden study among under 5 years children is ongoing in
collaboration with University of Maryland. In the coming years the
Epidemiology Division of NICED is planning to undertake several vaccine
trials. Apart from this, the scientists of the Division are also
involved in teaching and other academic activities of different
Universities and professional societies in India. A large number of
students are trained in this laboratory for their Ph.D/M.Sc./M.Tech.
program. Several collaborative projects are also going on with many
National and International Scientists of different Organizations and
Institutes.
Essential Qualification: Experience:-
(i) Post Graduate degree (MD/DNB) in Community Medicine/Internal
Medicine/Tropical Medicine/Pediatric Medicine with seven years
R&D/teaching experience in epidemiology or public health or post
graduate diploma in above mentioned branches of Medicine with 8 year
R&D/teaching experience in epidemiology or public health from
recognized university. (ii) Out of which 3 years in a managerial
position to handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing
capacity. Or MBBS degree recognized by Medical Council of India or
equivalent degree from recognized University with 10 years
R&D/Teaching experience in the above mentioned subjects after MBBS
degree. (ii) Out of which 3 years in a managerial position to handle
R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification:
i) Ph.D/MAE/MPH degree in epidemiology or public health from a
recognized University. ii) Additional Post doctoral research/teaching
experience in epidemiology/public health from a recognized
university/institute. iii) Knowledge of Computer application/Data
management/statistical analysis and interpretation. iv) Experience in
conducting independent research in the field of epidemiology/public
health reflected through publication in peer reviewed journals as first
or corresponding author.
Job Requirements:
(i) To plan and perform independent research in epidemiology and public
health related to diarrhoeal diseases. (ii) To engage in the
collaborative research in the field of community based research and
intervention studies. (iii) To assist in project development resource
generation and development of infrastructural facilities of the
institute. (iv) To prepare reports, updates and other documents relevant
to area of work.
(VI) Institute of Cytology & Preventive Oncology (ICPO) Noida
Scientist-E (Gynaecology) – One post
Essential Qualification: Experience: -
(i) Post graduate degree (MD/MS/DNB) with seven years R&D
experience or Postgraduate diploma in medical subjects with eight years
R&D experience in the Gynecology subject from a recognized
university. (ii) Out of which 3 years in a managerial position to handle
R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity. Or MBBS
degree recognized by MCI or equivalent degree from a recognized
University with 10 years R&D experience in the Gynecology subject
after MBBS degree. (ii) Out of which 3 years in a managerial position to
handle R&D projects in a team effectively in a directing capacity.
Desirable Qualification:
(i) Doctorate in relevant science subject or MD in related subject from
a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant
degree. (ii) Additional Postdoctoral research experience in relevant
subject in recognized Institute(s). (iii) Knowledge of Computer
Applications.
Job Requirements:
Should be able to provide good leadership in planning & carrying
out clinical, therapeutics & epidemiological research on different
types of premalignant lesions of gynaecological cancers as well as other
cancers chosen by Institute as a priority, patient management, field
work, follow up and teaching & training programmes.
Notes:
1. MD/MS/MDS/Ph.D in the relevant subject shall be treated equivalent
to three years experience. 2. Postgraduate Diploma in medical subjects
in the relevant subjects shall be treated equivalent to two years
experience. 3. DM/MCh degree in the relevant subjects shall be treated
equivalent to three years additional experience.
AGE:
Not exceeding 50 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants
and SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates in accordance with the
instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from
time to time in this regard. However, the prescribed age may be further
relaxed in exceptional cases for experienced and qualified candidates.
One time age relaxation is also allowed to Scientific and Technical
staff working in long term projects in ICMR Institutes/Centres for posts
advertised under HRSC, 2007 provided they meet the essential
qualifications and experience for the post with a view to provide them
an opportunity to compete with other candidates as per the Council’s
letter No.6/1/2007-Admn.II dated 28.03.2011.

Research Scientists Cadre of ICMR, 2007 under Rule 14 and Note 1 & 2

Rs.37400-67000+Rs.8700/- (Grade Pay) (2) Allowances as per Central
Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale. (3) Benefits of
new restructured defined contributory pension system are admissible as
per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of
Economic Affairs (ECD & PR Division) Notification No.05/07/2003-ECD
& PR dated 22.12.2003 effect from 1.1.2004. (4) Private practice is
not allowed. However, non-practicing allowance is admissible to medical
graduates only as per rules. (5) Applications from employees working in
