1. Healthcare Biotechnology Projects

Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission is a state nodal agency for promoting Biotechnology in the state, spanning its applications across sectors. Biotechnology has key role to play in healthcare segment. GSBTM through its visionary approach is planning to establish network of Genetic Diagnostic’s Center, Stem Cell Research and Training Center and Biobanking facilities on a project mode for five years initially. Following positions are invited for the same.

Healthcare Biotechnology Projects (Biotechnology for Healthcare: Network of Genetic Diagnostics Center, Biobanking facility and Stem Cell Researcg and Training Institute)

1 Joint Director 1

Age limit: not exceeding 50 years

M. Sc. in Life sciences or Biosciences or Biotechnology or Microbiology and Ph. D. from a recognized University in any of above subjects.

Minimum 12 years. of experience after M. Sc. or 9 years of experience after Ph.D. in responsible position of work in R& D in the area of genomics/ Human Genetics Diagnostics/Healthcare Biotechnology/Stem Cells/Tissue Banking/Planning/Scientific Administration in Science and technology organization or 5 years of experience in equivalent capacity.Highly qualified in the area of modern biology, as evidenced through research experience and proven ability to carry out work in the area of Healthcare biotechnology.

2 Scientist C 3

1. M. Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology/ Life Sciences, Biosciences from a recognized university.
2. Ph.D.in of the above subjects from a recognized University shall be preffered.

Minimum 4 years of experience after M.Sc. in responsible position of work in R & D in the area of Genomics/ Human Genetics Diagnostics/ Healthcare Biotechnology/ Stem Cells/ Tissue Banking/ Planning/ Scientific Administration in Science and technology organization. Highly qualified in the area of modern biology, as evidenced through research experience and proven ability to carry out work in the area of conservation biotechnology.

3 Scientist B 2

2. Ph.D.in of the above subjects from a recognized University shall be preffered.

Minimum 3 years of experience after M.Sc or Nil after Ph.D. in responsible position of work in R & D in the area of Genomics/ Human Genetic Diagnostics/ Healthcare biotechnology/ Stem Cells/ Tissue banking planning/ Scientific Administration in Science and Technology Organization. High qualified in the area of evidence through research experience and proven ability to carry out work in area of conservation biotechnology.

5 Genetic Counsellor 1

Age limit: not exceeding 35 years

M.Sc in Biotechnology / Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Human Genetics from a recognized University or Ph.D in above subject from a recognized University and certificate in the Genetic Counselling shall be preferred.

Minimum 5 Years of experience after M.Sc. in Genetic Counselling or related work. Person having training in genetic counselling shall be given preference.

2. Training, Research Awareness & Entrepreneurship Cell

GSBTM is doing many activities like HRD, Entrepreneurship development, Business development, Research & Innovation Support, Policy intervention, infrastructure development, information awareness. All these activities are done in four different cells with temporary manpower. Looking to the achievements, workload, long term continuation and smooth management, this office proposes these cells merged in one permanent cell called “Training, Research, Awareness & Entrepreneurship Cell”

3. Biotechnology knowledge complex

Department of science & technology is looking forward to establish a Biotechnology knowledge complex. This knowledge complex can be the place where in phases several centres / institute, dedicated to biotechnology and life science can be established, over a period of time. This knowledge complex, housing different institutes, will provide ecosystem for biotechnology & life science growth. It will help faculty, researchers, industries, entrepreneurs. Apart from this, it will create Dissertation laboratory, Hands on training laboratory, Facilities for developing Proof of concept, Overseas scientists’ laboratory facility, Biotech incubator and Innovation support system as a core part of "Biotechnology Knowledge Complex"

In responsible positon of work in R & D in the area of Genomics / Human Genetic Diagnostics / Healthcare Biotechnology / Stem cells / Tissue Banking Planning / Scientific Administration in Science and Technology organiztion. Highly qualified in the area of modern biology, as evidence through research experience and proven ability to carry out work in the area of Conservation Biotechnology.

The projects are for 5 years duration, subject to extension by State Govenment. The positions are purely on contractual basis initially for 11 months and extendable to 5 years subject to satisfactory performace and annual review. The last date of applying is one month from the date of Advertisement. The date of advertisement is 19-11-2014 .
