The Institute for Stem Cell Science & Regenerative Medicine (www.instem.res.in), Bangalore is an
autonomous institute under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, the Department of
Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. inStem’s mandate is to establish
collaborative research programs in the field of stem cell biology, regeneration, and repair in development
and disease, with translational emphasis. In order to develop strengths in focused areas, research at inStem
is driven through collaborative interdisciplinary themes, addressing questions that are beyond the scope of a
single laboratory. inStem shares a campus and research facilities with the Bangalore Life Sciences Cluster
(BLiSC). The institute invites online applications from eligible and interested candidates in the scientific

Position Details:

investigators. Scientists/Researchers can benefit from the ecosystem,

Investigators are expected to undertake high-quality research and contribute to the mandate of the institute.
Investigators are also expected to mentor Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows and contribute to the
teaching and outreach activities of inStem. inStem Investigators are expected to apply for extramural grant
funding but in the first instance, generous start-up support is provided. inStem Investigators have an excellent
track record of securing prestigious fellowships and substantial extramural funding, which is encouraged.
Compensation/ Pay Details: The post carries the Pay Levels as mentioned against each in the pay structure
of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Entry Level) and other benefits which include Dearness Allowance, House Rent
Allowance (in lieu of accommodation), Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, Leave Travel
Concession, Medical Facilities applicable to the institute from time to time. The selected candidate will be
covered under the National Pension System (NPS)

Essential Qualification & Experience
Ph.D. in life sciences or other Allied Sciences or equivalent with 8 years R
& D experience including Ph.D, demonstrated by strong publications and
successful funding of competitive extramural grants.
Should be an outstanding scientist with a strong and exceptional research
record with independent discovery research of a high quality. Should have a
strong research record with a promise to contribute to the focused research
at the institute and /or carry out their own discovery-driven research.
Experience for Deputation:
Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes,
Autonomous Bodies, etc.
(i) Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent Department
or
(ii) With 4 years’ service in Level 12 or equivalent in the parent cadre/
Department and possess the essential qualification & experience as
mentioned above.

Masters in Life Sciences/Engineering or Medicine or equivalent, with 5
years’ experience.
Desirable: Ph.D. in Life Sciences or other Allied Sciences/ Should be an
outstanding scientist with a strong and exceptional research record and
intentions of collaborative/thematic research. Should have a strong
research record with promise to contribute to the focused research themes
at the institute and/or carry out their own discovery-driven research
experience in the relevant field with the ability to foster interactions among
basic scientists and clinicians
Experience for Deputation: Scientists from Central/State Governments,
Research Institutes Autonomous Bodies etc.
(i) Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent Department or
(ii) With 4 years’ service in Level- 11 or equivalent in the parent cadre/
Department and possess the essential qualification & experience as
