The JNU has openings for faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the areas of specialization as indicated against each. The essential qualifications/ scales of pay for these positions are given below. Candidates with good academic record, teaching/research experience and working in related areas of research are encouraged to apply. University also solicits applications from candidates with research interests that are interdisciplinary.
SPECIALIZATION/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & DETAILS OF THE POSTS: SCHOOL OF LIFE SCIENCES (SLS)
1. Professor in Plant Developmental Biology (Unreserved)
M.Sc. and Ph.D. in any discipline of Plant Biology and teaching and research in developmental Biology. Candidates must have sufficient research experience in the regulation of development of roots, leaves, flowers or whole plant. Ten years of teaching and research experience with internationally acclaimed high impact publications in Plant Developmental Biology. Experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses in post graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
2. Professor in Plant Genetics (Unreserved)
Renowned scientist with M.Sc. in Genetics any branch of Life Sciences with a specialization in Genetics and a Ph.D. in Plant Genetics with emphasis on molecular aspects. Ten years of teaching and research experience with internationally acclaimed high impact publications on plant genetics. Experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses in Plant Genetics at post-graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
3. Professor in Animal Genetics (Unreserved)
Masters from the recognized University in the subject areas of Genetics/Life Sciences having specialization in genetics. Ph.D. in the area of Animal Genetics with an emphasis on molecular aspects. Ten years of teaching and research experience with internationally acclaimed high impact publications. Experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses in Animal Genetics at post-graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
4. Professor in Biochemistry with specialization in Protein Chemistry (Reserved for SC)
M.Sc. in Biochemistry/Life Sciences with specialization in Biochemistry and Ph.D in protein biochemistry/protein structure functions relationship/post translational modifications/nucleic acid biochemistry as evident from high quality publications in reputed peer reviewed journals of international standing. Ten years of experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses in Biochemistry at post-graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
5. Professor in Developmental Biology with specialization in Stem Cell Biology (Reserved for ST)
M.Sc. in Zoology or in any branch of Life Sciences with Cell and Developmental Biology as a major subject. Ph.D and post doctoral experience in Stem cell biology/ Development and regeneration /Developmental genetics/ Cell fate determination/ Organogenesis/Pattern formation in Animal Developmental Biology as evident from high quality publications in reputed peer reviewed journals of international standing. Ten years of experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses in Animal Developmental Biology/Stem Cell Biology at post-graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
6. Professor in Biological Chemistry (Unreserved)
M.Sc. in any branch of Natural Sciences and Ph.D. in any branch of Life Sciences having experience in Cellular Metabolism and Metabolomics/Single Cell transcriptomics and large scale data analysis. Ten years of teaching and research experience with internationally acclaimed high impact publications. Experience of mentoring and guiding research students and teaching courses at post graduate level and development of new courses and teaching methods.
7. Associate Professor in Microbiology with specialization in Virology/RNA Biology (Reserved for ST)
A consistently good academic record with a Master’s degree in Microbiology or Life Sciences with specialization in Microbiology. A Ph.D. degree in Microbiology/Virology/RNA Biology. At least eight years of teaching /research experience in relevant area and Involvement in developing novel courses and curricula. Published papers in peer reviewed reputed highly reputed journals.
8. Associate Professor in Immunology (Unreserved)
A consistently good academic record with a Master’s degree any discipline of Life Sciences with specialization in Immunolgoy. A Ph.D. degree in Biosciences of relevance to Immunology. At least eight years of teaching/research experience in Immunology and involvement in developing novel courses and curricula. Published papers in peer reviewed journals of highly reputed journals.
9. Assistant Professor in Molecular Parasitology (Unreserved)
Specialization: M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences. Desirable: Ph.D. and three years post doctoral training in host-parasite relationship of human parasites (protist/helminth), Experience in using sophisticated molecular tools such as imaging, sequencing, proteomics as evidenced by quality research publications in high impact Journals.
10. Assistant Professor in Photobiology (Unreserved)
Specialization: M.Sc. in any branch of Plant Sciences. Desirable: Ph.D. in Photobiology/ Photosynthesis having three years post doctoral experience in Photosynthesis and publication in photobiology in highly reputed journals.
HOW TO APPLY:
• Application Form can be obtained/submitted in person on payment of Rs. 500/- by demand draft from candidates belonging to General & OBC category or can be obtained by post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 520/- (Rs. 500/- plus Rs. 20/- postal charges for General & OBC category). Payable on any nationalized bank in favour of the Finance Officer, Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi (non-refundable) to The Section Officer, Recruitment Cell, Room No. 131-132, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi – 110067.
• The application form can also be downloaded from JNU website: www.jnu.ac.in and the duly filled-in application form can be submitted alongwith the demand draft of Rs. 500/- in case of General and OBC category to the University at the above address. There is no application fee for SC/ST/PH and women candidates. They can also obtain the application form in person by producing the copy of the caste certificate.
